Project overview

About this Leadville A-frame cabin

Abricos LLC constructed this A-frame cabin from the ground up in Leadville, Colorado. The 2026 project included the foundation, steep A-frame structural system, standing-seam metal roofing, windows, siding, exterior deck and interior finishing.

Client goal

Building a ground-up A-frame cabin

The project called for a complete A-frame cabin built on a wooded Leadville property, with the steep roof geometry serving as both the defining exterior form and a major part of the interior structure. The scope carried the building from its foundation and structural frame through the exterior enclosure, deck and interior finishes.

Scope of work

What Abricos LLC completed

  • Foundation construction
  • Ground-up A-frame structural framing
  • Roof sheathing and standing-seam metal roofing
  • Window installation
  • Exterior siding
  • Exterior entry deck
  • Interior wall and ceiling finishing
  • Interior finish carpentry and completed living spaces
  • Overall construction coordination by Abricos LLC
Construction approach

Framing the steep A-frame structure

Challenge

The structural frame established the cabin's steep triangular profile and the open interior volume visible from the main level. Framing, roof enclosure and window openings were sequenced so the building could progress from an exposed structure to a weather-protected shell before siding, deck construction and interior finishing.

Solution

After the main structure and roof were enclosed, the work continued with windows, exterior siding, the entry deck and interior finishes. The completed cabin retains the recognizable A-frame form while providing finished interior living space within the steep roof structure.

Construction process

From structural frame to weather-protected shell

The ground-up structural frame establishes the cabin footprint and steep A-frame geometry.
Exposed roof framing shows the steep interior volume and structural members before enclosure and finishing.
A winter construction stage with the standing-seam metal roof and windows installed before the exterior siding was completed.
Result

Completed A-frame cabin in Leadville

The finished project is a fully constructed A-frame cabin set within a wooded Leadville site. The completed exterior combines siding, a dark standing-seam metal roof, a compact entrance and a raised front deck, while the construction photographs document the structural frame and the progression toward the finished building.
