About this Centennial fireplace remodel

Abricos LLC completed this living-room fireplace remodel in Centennial in 2025. The project transformed the existing fireplace wall into a full-width architectural feature with a gas fireplace, manufactured-stone surround, dark wood mantel, symmetrical built-in shelves, integrated accent lighting and a coordinated raised hearth.

Homeowner goal

Creating a finished living-room focal point

The homeowner wanted the fireplace wall to feel intentional and visually balanced rather than operating as a single isolated feature. The redesigned wall needed to incorporate the fireplace, display shelving, concealed construction details, coordinated finishes and warm accent lighting within one symmetrical composition.

Starting point

Reworking the existing fireplace wall

The existing area required a new finished surround and an organized shelving layout. The work involved rebuilding the central fireplace feature and developing matching recessed shelf areas on both sides before the manufactured-stone and wood finishes could be installed.

Scope of work

What Abricos LLC completed

  • Preparation and reconstruction of the fireplace feature wall
  • Framing and drywall work around the central fireplace structure
  • Integration of the gas fireplace into the new architectural surround
  • Construction of symmetrical built-in shelf recesses
  • Installation of manufactured-stone facing
  • Installation of the dark wood mantel
  • Installation of matching wood shelves
  • Integration and coordination of shelf accent lighting
  • Construction and finishing of the raised hearth surface
  • Drywall finishing, painting and finish carpentry
  • Final alignment and detailing of the complete feature wall
Layout and finish coordination

Aligning stone, mantel, shelves and lighting

Challenge

The central fireplace surround and the shelving on both sides needed to read as one balanced architectural feature. Shelf elevations, mantel placement, stone transitions, lighting positions and the raised hearth all needed to remain visually aligned across the full wall.

Solution

Abricos LLC built the wall in coordinated stages, establishing the central fireplace structure and matching shelf openings before completing the manufactured-stone facing, mantel, shelf surfaces, lighting integration and finish work.

Construction process

Building the fireplace wall and shelving

The central fireplace structure and matching shelf recesses were formed before installation of the manufactured-stone facing and finished shelf surfaces.
The dark wood mantel established a horizontal transition across the fireplace surround before the manufactured-stone finish was completed.
Result

A balanced living-room centerpiece

The completed wall presents the gas fireplace, manufactured-stone surround, mantel, shelving and warm accent lighting as one cohesive living-room feature. The symmetrical shelf arrangement adds display space while the stone and dark wood finishes create contrast across the full composition.
